10 Things I Am Taking With Me | Two Martini Lunch

So as we start to pare down, I thought I would make a list of the 10 things that I can?t live without. Not just live without but if I could only take 10 things with me as we prepare to move, what would they be? ?I have made lists like this in the past but this one sort seems to have some extra emphasis on it.

When I started the list, I was going to obviously put my boys on the list, but then Way said I get to include the boys, toiletries and clothes. Thank goodness because I would hate to have to choose between lip balm and the boys. ?I truly couldn?t live without either. :-)

1. Family Photos. This is the story of my life. How could I ever leave that behind?

2. A Deck of Cards. Playing games with the boys is fun. Family fun doesn?t have to be a planned outing or an event, it can be as simple as playing a game. ?Any card game is my game of choice because there are so many variations. ?I still remember teaching my kids skills through go fish, poker and black jack. Hey don?t judge, my kids are math whizzes!

3.?My Computer. ?I know this sounds a bit trivial but as we move away, this will be my main means of communicating with my friends, access to therapy (this blog), continuing my education and my source of income (project bullhorn and fizz). I am choosing my computer over my phone. Gasp. Although both are probably making the trip anyway.

4. My Pink Cruiser Bike. I am hoping I will be in warmer weather preferably with a boardwalk. Got to dream big, right?

5. My Grandmother?s Blanket. She knitted it by hand. I adored my grandmother, we had a special bond. Often when feeling blue, I wrap myself up in one of her blankets and watch a cheesy romantic comedy. It is amazing how that combination makes me feel better every time. (two of her blankets are pictured above in our family photo)

6. My Down Comforter. Yes, really. ?Any bed, couch, cot or sleeping surface will be a bit more comfortable and inviting with my cozy, down conforter on it. I love my comforter. ?I love my bed too but I love my comforter more.

7. My Camera. I want to take pictures to preserve all the moments of this journey called life. What a great lesson in?perseverance and?the power of family.

8. My Sewing Machine. I love to sew, it is therapeutic and calming. Without all the other stuff to distract me, maybe I can start sewing regularly again.

9. Jewelry. Not all of my jewelry but the pieces I collected while travelling and anything from Way and my family members. ?While I don?t wear jewelry often, these pieces will remind me I am always surrounded by loved ones and that I have had many amazing experiences along the way.

10. ?My French Press. ?Everything looks a little brighter and seems a bit more attainable after a cup of coffee.

Honorable Mention: Sunglasses. ?How can I expect to live on a beach in Mexico without sunglasses? ?I know you see my point.

It seems like the things I can?t live without are mostly related to memories, honoring them or creating them. ?What are the things you can?t live without? I mean really can?t live without. Most of my memories were burnt in our house fire 4 years ago. ?This was a really difficult exercise and made me realize how much I miss some of those memories and how important it is to cherish them. Now off to start throwing everything else out.
